What is the COM1 cable distance recommendations for the Integris system?
COM1 cable distance recommendations for the Integris system
- The total distance from the PC/power supply to the last RTU cannot exceed 3000 feet. The other critical distance that must be adhered to is from the PC/power supply to the first RTU with a maximum of 800 feet. With any longer distances factors such as weather, site conditions, install quality etc. can all affect the system's ability to reliably communicate as voltage drops over long distance.
- The required voltage at the RTU is 12VDC, if the voltage drops to 11VDC then an additional or larger power supply will be required.
- For larger sites, a second or larger Power Supply should be added to mitigate voltage drop. Also, depending on the actual distance an RS485 repeater might need to be added into the mix as well.
