This article will show step-by-step instructions on how to use your BlueLite device like a StorMax Monitor to troubleshoot issues with OPIsystems Inc. hardware.
You can use your BlueLite device to troubleshoot issues with Sensing Cables and Elements, and lead wire using the same methods you would troubleshoot equipment with a StorMax Monitor. In addition, you can also use the BlueLite device to physically reset a Cable Node.
How To Enter "Troubleshooting Mode"
- Power on your BlueLite device and open your BlueLite App.
- Login to your BlueLite app and connect to your BlueLite device via the Bluetooth connection.
- Navigate to the BlueLite App Menu and select "Troubleshoot Cables"
How to Troubleshoot Sensing Cables and Lead Wire
- Connect the sensing cable or element to the BlueLite device using the two-prong connection at the cable head or the end of the lead wire run.
- Select "Discover Cables" on the BlueLite App to attempt to read the equipment.
- If the BlueLite App displays the sensing cable data with no sensing errors then the sensing cables/elements and/or the lead wire does not have any issues.
- If the BlueLite App displays the sensing cable data with some sensing errors then the sensing cables/elements have sensor issues.
- If the BlueLite App fails to discover the sensing cables/elements then the App will show a message saying "No Cables Discovered". In this case, there is an issue with the cables themselves or the lead wire. If you were connected to the end of the lead wire when you tried to discover the cables, try connecting directly to the sensing cable header and retrying the cable discovery. This will tell you if the issue is the lead wire or the sensing cable/element.
- If the BlueLite App displays the sensing cable data with no sensing errors then the sensing cables/elements and/or the lead wire does not have any issues.
NOTE: You may have to use a special adapter fitted with two alligator clips, which are colored black and white, to connect to the end of the lead wire if there is no two-prong connection present.
How to Reset a Cable Node Using the BlueLite Device
The BlueLite device has a magnet fitted to the back of the device which is designed to reset a cable node. To reset the cable node:
- Place the BlueLite magnet on the surface of the cable node at the top of the cable node where the printed circuit board inside the node is at it's tallest point.
- Move the BlueLite magnet along the surface of the clear plastic cover to the bottom of the clear plastic cover where the cover meets the blue base of the node, while maintaining contact between the BlueLite magnet and the cover.
- If the cable node LEDs begin to flash as if it was first powered on by removing the red jumper inside the node then it went through a successful reset.
- If the cable node LEDs did not flash then there is a further issue with that cable node.
