What can I do to make sure my Cable Node batteries are fully charged before doing an OPI Blue install?

There are two ways to charge the batteries: the first is on site at the install, and the second is using an adapter.

Charging the Cable Nodes at an Installation

Before you proceed with an install, it is a good idea to allow the passive solar charging on the cable nodes to boost the batteries in the nodes. To do this you simply unpack the nodes throughout the course of an installation and lay them on the ground in a sunny spot to allow the solar panels to collect the solar energy. Doing this will increase the likelihood that your nodes will activate with a strong charge on the battery, especially if you are worried about the battery having a reduced charge from long term storage.

Charging the Cable Nodes Using an Adapter

One of the products that OPIsystems Inc. sells is an adapter to charge the cable nodes. This adapter is a DC wall adapter, not unlike similar products used to charge phones and other electronic devices, that has been modified to connect to the PCB inside the cable node via a three-prong connector. This charger works on a separate circuit from the passive solar charging and will charge the batteries in the nodes without the need for sunlight. Using this adapter will also increase the likelihood that your nodes will activate with a strong charge on the battery if you are worried about the battery having a reduced charge from long term storage.

The adapter part code is "Cable Node Battery Charger" and can be purchased from OPIsystems Inc. directly by contacting your sales rep or our internal sales team at "quotes@opisystems.com".
